An easy Super Bowl Chili recipe that gets some kick from Jack Daniels whiskey and has won a chili coof-off contest.
SUPERBOWL CHILI (Tim Allesee’s)
In a large pot add:
3 cans (14 oz. ea.) basil, oregano, garlic diced tomatoes
1 can (15 oz.) chili beans
1 can (8 oz.) Elpato salsa (Mexican tomato sauce)
1 T. Cholula hot sauce
Heat on low. Meanwhile, dice 1 lb. hickory smoked bacon, fry, drain, crumble and add. Dice 1 medium onion and brown in bacon fat. Add to chili. Brown 1 lb. hamburger and add. Bring to the boil and add 1/2 c. Jack Daniels whiskey. Add 2 T. chili powder and a pickled sport pepper (pickled habanero). Reduce to a simmer and cook, covered loosely, 1 1/2 hours.
