CHOCOLATE FROSTING (Marianne's)

1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. milk
1 egg

Beat all ingredients in a (10 inch) pan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, til thickened (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and add 1 square (4 oz.) German sweet chocolate and 1 stick unsalted butter at room temperature. and stir til melted and well blended. In another bowl, sift and measure 2 1/4 c. powdered sugar and add to mixture; stir. Add 2 t. vanilla extract. Beat til fluffy on low to medium speed. If too thick, thin with coffee cream or half & half.
(covers and fills 2 (8-9 inch) layers)
