HALLOWEEN THREE-DECKER BROWNIES
FIRST DECK:
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 t. vanilla
1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. chopped pecans
SECOND DECK:
1 c. confectioners sugar
2 T. soft butter
2 t. milk
1/2 t. vanilla
3-4 drops orange food color (or use mixture of yellow and red to make orange)
THIRD DECK:
1/4 square unsweetened chocolate
1 1/2 t. butter
To make the first deck, combine chocolate and butter; melt over hot water. Beat in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and nuts. Bake in greased (8 inch) square pan at 325° for 30-35 minutes. Cool in pan on rack.
To make the second layer, combine confectioners sugar, butter, milk and vanilla to make a smooth mixture. Tint orange with food color. Spread over brownies in pan. Chill for 10 minutes.
For the third deck, combine chocolate and butter; melt over hot water. Drizzle from small spoon over top of brownies. Cool in pan on rack, and cut into 2 inch squares.
