HAPPY NEW YEAR!
What goes around comes around. This recipe was first called into Ask Your Neighbor in November 1979! When a cheese ball recipe was requested last month the neighbor who called this in said she took it then and it has drawn rave reviews ever since! Even though we're past the holiday parties, I'm sure you'll have many occasions in the coming year to enjoy this recipe too.
DEVILED HAM CHEESE BALLS
2 packages (8 oz. each) creamed cheese, softened
1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded (about 2 cups)
2 t. grated onion
2 t. Worcestershire sauce
1 t. dry mustard
1/2 t. paprika
1/2 t. Accent
1/4 t. salt
1 t. lemon juice
1 small can (2 1/4 oz.) deviled ham
2 T finely chopped fresh parsley
2 T finely chopped pimiento
1 c. finely chopped pecans
In a large bowl, beat the softened cheese with an electric mixer. Add the remaining ingredients except the nuts beating until smooth and well blended. Cover and refrigerate until firm (1 to 3 hours). Shape into two balls and roll each in the pecans until well coated. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve. Prepare at least 3 days before serving.
