Peju winery was a wonderful vineyard to visit. Great art, great wine and great people make a fantastic family winery. Visit Peju when you visit the Napa Valley and by all means, buy a jar of their sweet garlic mustard! - Rob Allison.

PEJU MERLOT SANGRIA (www.peju.com (800) 446-7358)
1 bottle Peju 2003 Merlot (you can buy wine from their web sire)
1/3 c. sugar (baker’s sugar is ideal)
1 orange, cut into 4 pieces
1 pt. blackberries, cut into halves
1 pt. strawberries, cut into halves
4 mint leaves, 4 eachIn a small sauce pot, add sugar and 1/2 c. Peju Merlot and mix til it forms a wet sand look. Turn on heat and cook for 3-4 minutes til it looks like a rich burgundy color syrup. Allow to cool for 5 minutes and place in a large pitcher, which will be used for the finished sangria. Add cut up fruit and berries and rest of the bottle of Merlot. Chill overnight.
